Find Out More About Our Group, And How You Can Be A Part Of GRHRA.

What is Great River Human Resource Association (GRHRA)?

GRHRA is an affiliate chapter of SHRM. We are a volunteer organization whose primary objective is to educate HR Professionals in best practices. We support your professional development and serve as the conduit of communication for our members.

Why should I join GRHRA?

In joining GRHRA, you not only are provided the opportunity to network and meet other HR professionals in the area, but by attending events/meetings you also grow and build on your knowledge in the HR industry. As we all know, HR is an ever-changing space and being updated and in the know benefits not only you as a professional, but it also positively affects your place of business.

What are the benefits of joining GRHRA?

Monthly Meetings: Members receive a discounted rate on all meeting/event tickets throughout the year.

Networking: We believe it is important for HR professionals to find some time to enjoy themselves and meet others through networking.

Career Opportunities: Members have a free service to advertise HR openings in their organizations to find qualified candidates. We do accept HR job postings from recruiters and non-members at a rate of $150 per posting.

Certification Opportunities: As a member, you can develop your career and enhance your professional status through national Certification as a Professional in Human Resource Management. If you participate in the study group and successfully pass the exam, we will reimburse a portion of your fees.

Professional Development - Workshops and Seminars: GRHRA has provided extended workshop and seminar programs each year, both virtually and in-person. Additionally, most of our meetings provide SHRM recertification credit hours.

Legal Updates: We provide our members with timely information on current legislative issues, provided by our membership attorneys. Because we have two bordering states and members from each side of the river, you will receive special notices on legislation that will affect both Iowa and Illinois.

Newsletters and Bulletins: Members will receive notices of meetings, events, conferences, job openings, legislative updates, etc. In addition, we provide opportunities for companies, organizations, and colleges to promote upcoming events.

Do I need to be a SHRM member in order to be a member of GRHRA?

As we are now a 100% SHRM Chapter, yes, we do require that all members have a current and valid SHRM membership. However, because the fees of SHRM have continued to rise, we have made the decision to waive our local GRHRA membership fee...it’s FREE to join GRHRA!

Are there volunteer opportunities with GRHRA?
