GRHRA Member Benefits..
Monthly Meetings: Meetings are typically held the third week of the month, although the date can vary depending on the speaker's availability. In our current structure, all of our meetings are being held virtually and are available to view on-demand after the fact if you are unable to attend "in person". Our meetings present information on valuable and informative topics and cover a variety of human resource disciplines. Networking: We encourage members to get to know one another not only in a professional capacity, but on a more personal level as well. Although GRHRA's goal is to provide programs that are informative and valuable learning opportunities, we also believe it is important for HR professionals to find some time to enjoy themselves and meet others. If you have any creative ideas for future networking events, please email adminconsultant@grhra.org. Professional Development - Workshops and Seminars: GRHRA has provided extended workshop and seminar programs each year. Our topics have included legislative issues, succession planning, diversity, and a variety of other topics. Our meetings provide SRHM recertification credit hours, which can also be applied towards HRCI recertification credits. Legal Updates: The Legislative Committee's goal is to provide our members with timely and accurate information on current legislative issues. Because we have two bordering states and members from each side of the river, you will receive special notices on legislation that will affect both Iowa and Illinois. Our membership includes attorneys that have provided us with a wealth of information on topics that affect all HR professionals. Newsletters and Bulletins: Members will receive notices of meetings, events, conferences, job openings, legislative updates, etc. We also send out informative articles about current issues that affect our field. In addition, we provide opportunities for companies, organizations, and colleges to promote upcoming events. Career Opportunities: Members have a free service to advertise HR openings in their organizations in order to find qualified candidates. We gladly accept HR job postings from recruiters and non-members at a cost of $50 per posting. Certification: Members have the opportunity to develop career opportunities and enhance their professional status through national Certification as a Professional in Human Resource Management. Certification by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) is a distinguished honor among human resource professionals, demonstrating mastery of the field and challenging you to stay abreast of new developments.
Additionally, GRHRA sponsors a study group each fall for individuals interested in earning the SHRM-CP or SCP certification. For more information on the SHRM certification study group, contact Meg Davis. Sponsorships: Companies who lend their support to our organization can assist us by sponsoring our events and promoting their services. We are always looking for partnerships in the community with companies and/or organizations who are interested in advancing educational services for HR professionals and business leaders in all companies. Volunteer Committees: As we are a non-profit organization, we are always looking for volunteers. If your schedule allows you to serve on the board for a year, let us know! If your free time is limited but you would still like to get involved in one of our committees on occasion, we would appreciate that as well! Simply send an email to adminconsultant@grhra.org if you would like to get involved. |
