We are looking for a Member & Community Relations Business Partner to join our Workplace Furnishings team in Muscatine, IA! As a Member & Community Relations (HR) Business Partner you will provide support in all HR initiatives and activities including talent acquisition, performance management, organizational development, compliance, benefits and compensation, member engagement and retention, and project management. You will support a wide range of professionals on our corporate and leadership team, requiring high energy and engagement, ability to interact effectively, and a passion for helping others while supporting HNI Workplace Furnishings business objectives. You will also serve as a talent and change management consultant for business leaders, while contributing to project management of strategic HR initiatives.

What You Will Do:

  • Supervise, coordinate, provide leadership and review work of assigned members. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend merit increases, promotions, transfers, corrective actions and other personnel actions. Interview and recommend candidates for employment. Drive member engagement.
  • Partner with business leaders to help achieve strategic plans from a human capital perspective.
  • Cultivate and develop strong relations with members (our employees), driving high levels of engagement to increase performance and retention.
  • Execute talent management processes (workforce planning, performance, member and leadership development, succession management).
  • Leverage MCR operational best practices to provide solutions to resolve issues concerning members and business leaders.
  • Play an active role in recruitment processes including writing job descriptions, salary benchmarking, interviewing, reference checking, preparing and delivering offers, etc.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects requiring HR support and leadership.
  • Implement and develop member messaging to support strategic HR and business initiatives (for example, HR technology implementations, diversity and inclusion efforts, annual workforce reporting, and more).
  • Support development and implementation of training and development programs.
  • Interpret HR data, surveys, and reporting, to create strategies and drive continuous improvements.
  • Lead succession planning, talent management, and talent review activities for member groups.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a progressive human resources role, ideally in a large organization.
  • Broad exposure to multiple HR disciplines including employment laws and practices.
  • Experience planning and managing complex HR projects.
  • SHRM/PHR certification a plus.

  • High level of decision making and action orientation.
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, mediation, and interpersonal skills and experience; ability to influence or de-escalate situations as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong proficiency in MS Excel a plus.
