Workforce Readiness Panel
Join us for a half-day meeting to get up to speed on all legal updates as well as hear from our Workforce Readiness Panel, comprised of representatives from iJag, Junior Achievement & The Career Network. This event will be a great opportunity to not only get refreshed on legal matters but it will also serve as a great avenue to learn about and understand the importance of workforce readiness.

Carly Voltz: Relationships and education have been the two most important life changing factors in her life. These steeped in values of equity and humility have led Carly throughout her career path. Carly earned both her Masters in Social Work and Bachelors in Sociology from the University of Iowa. Carly brings high levels of enthusiasm and joy to her work at iJAG in connecting our students with caring employers who are willing to stretch limits and support a program that works!
Paula Arends: Paula is the Workforce Innovation Director for Eastern Iowa Community Colleges and IowaWORKS. She oversees several workforce programs including Title I, PACE, GAP, and Intermediary Network (State of Iowa programs), and coordinates apprenticeships for the Eastern Iowa Community College District.
Dougal Nelson: Dougal Nelson has extensive experience in management, sales, and business development in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Dougal has been instrumental in leading change throughout his professional career. A polished presenter and communicator, he is widely known for building and cultivating relationships, and inspiring the cooperation and confidence of others. Prior to joining the senior management team at Junior Achievement of the Heartland in November 2016, he held senior leadership roles at Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross, and Isabel Bloom, LLC. In April of 2018, Dougal was named the President and CEO of Junior Achievement. He is a Quad City native and Western Illinois University Alum where he was named the Outstanding Senior of the College of Business and Technology while enrolled. Nelson and his wife, Pam, reside in Moline.
Christine Caves: Christine Caves is a Workforce Coordinator for Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. She serves both the Statewide Work Based Learning Intermediary and the Local College Access Network grants. She has her Master’s Degree in Psychology-Career Management & Counseling and is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. Christine has more than 15 years of experience working and consulting in education, business, and government industries. As a local advocate for Q2030, Christine utilizes collective impact framework as a strategy for building momentum in the Quad Cities around post-secondary degree attainment, workforce development, and community engagement. She recently co-coordinated the first, annual TEDx Davenport event in 2018, and will be coordinating another TEDx Davenport and TEDx youth event in 2019.
