Becoming Strategically Impactful - What Your CEO Wants from HR
Karen Rieck is returning to GRHRA for a second time to dive a little deeper into the importance of being a strategic HR professional. Grounded in 25+ years of experience in leading human resources teams from traditional to strategic, particpants will receive advice, insights, and real examples of how to develop their human resources function into something beyond administration and compliance focused. This presentation will be a helpful follow-up to Lauri and Doug's presentation in January. Karen will outline and discuss four ways HR leaders and their teams can impact the organization in a strategic and meaningful way. Participants will gain a better perspective of the expectations of their role in shaping the company culture and deriving organizational success.

Karen Rieck joined FBL Financial Group in 2012 and currently holds the role of Vice President of Human Resources. In this role she is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the Human Resources functions. More specifically she is charged with building and leading her team to plan, design, and execute HR programs and services that align with business strategies and build organizational capabilities.
Karen has 25+ years serving as a human resources professional. She has extensive hands-on experience leading HR initiatives including performance management, talent acquisition, talent development, compensation and benefits administration, and strategic planning.
Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and math education and a Masters of Business Administration from Mid America Nazarene University. She holds multiple designations including Senior Professional (SPHR) in Human Resources from the Human Resources Certification Institute, Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) from World at Work, Senior Human Resources Business Partner (S-HRBP) from Human Capital Institute, and Associate in General Insurance (AINS). She is an active volunteer in various industry groups, where she has held a number of leadership roles.
