Barbara A. VenHorst is the President of Junior Achievement of the Heartland. Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing effective programs that equip our youth to become the next generation of productive employees employers are seeking. Under her reign, JA of the Heartland has been recognized by Junior Achievement USA as a Summit Award recipient. The criteria for the award is based on the organization’s financial solvency, program quality, management effectiveness, and program growth for four consecutive years.
Prior to leading JA of the Heartland, VenHorst served as Senior Director, Investor Relations for McDonald’s Corporation. She also held various management positions at Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Co., the predecessor to MidAmerican Energy Co. A native of the Quad-Cities, VenHorst received a degree in business from Drake University and earned her CPA certification.
